
Michael Tanney
Senior Managing Director
Michael joined Magnus Financial Group in April 2019. His previous investment experience includes Goldman Sachs Private Wealth Management, where he advised corporate executives, private business owners, government officials, multi-generational families and foundations on approximately $12 billion in assets. Michael has been quoted in Forbes, US News, Newsday, CBS News, USA Today, Yahoo! Finance, and has made appearances on various videos and podcasts. He is a member of the Financial Times’ Financial Advisor IQ Leadership Council, is Life Insurance licensed, and previously maintained securities Series 7, 63, 65, and 66 registrations.
Michael earned a Bachelor of Science in Management from Indiana University and is an emeritus member of the Indiana University Distinguished Alumni Council. He received his Master of Science in Education, summa cum laude, from Baruch College’s Austin W. Marxe School of Public and International Affairs, where he currently sits on the Dean’s Advisory Council. He also guest lectures at Cornell University and the City University of New York on direct private investments in early-stage companies, advanced estate planning, social entrepreneurship, and financial literacy.
Away from the office, Michael is an Eagle Scout award recipient, a member of the Screen Actors Guild, enjoys competing in triathlons, and experiencing culture through. In addition, he’s actively involved in multiple philanthropic endeavors, with a recent focus on helping solve food insecurity. Michael resides in New York City with his high school sweetheart Jaclinn, their two sons and their English Bulldog.
